Technology transfer is a complex process. The supporting online solutions should be clear and precise, user friendly and efficient. The IT industry offers a range of products which could offer various solutions. Technology transfer solution should provide an collaboration platform, utilising databases in stand-alone or client/server modes.
Two groups of products and services offer appropriate solutions:
External services – provided by an external company such as ISPs (internet service providers), by enhanced product portfolio with business communication and administrative functions.
Applications and solutions to be implemented into corporate IT infrastructures. I will now examine a handful of these solutions, including the platform we have adopted for our project (CITT) which is called the Central European Technology Exchange (CETEX).
Microsoft’s Sharepoint product comes within the range of solutions providing the collaboration functionalities, permanent availability of support and the security.
IBM’s Lotus is a product having a different approach but leading to similar results. Most of the standardised offerings of the industry cover many of the requirements.
There are numerous more specific technology transfer tools available:
Open Channel Foundation, offers a wide variety of solutions as freeware or shareware.

CETEX – Central European Technology Exchange. The CITT project led to the creation and introduction of the CETEX tool, aimed to support the establishing the community of users interested in technology and know-how exchange. CETEX supports technologies and knowledge description, data storage and exchange using its own communication environment utilizing Internet connection.
CETEX contains administrative information concerning organizations, companies or institutions divided by field of interest to the group of contributors (‘owners of technologies or know-how’), the group of consumers (‘subjects looking for technology or know-how’), the areas of research results and innovations (‘offers’) and demands for cooperation, ideas development concerning innovations, know-how, patents, research results and other topics regarding technology transfer (‘requests’).
The set of diverse search and selective techniques of CETEX enable users to find the proper information comfortably and quickly and allows matching of offers and requests of proposed and desirable technological or business solutions.
