Two weeks ago I met a very interesting person who told me that he would like to revolutionize the IT sector. He has developed a software (90% finished) to strike a new path. The product is calld “MyPM” and can be described as follows:
“MyPM” is a method to:
- describe business processes and their connections as hierarchical model
- describe these business processes in a clear form, precisely and as detailed as desired
- create automatically software from these descriptions
- combine analysis, design and implementation
- describe business processes and data simultaneously
- create databases automatically from the model description
- describe business processes without having to think of software development
“MyPM” is a new way of software development.
The only problem is that no one takes him seriously, most of them think he is a fool. I think that he is certainly not a fool but if he is really going to revolutionize the software I cannot tell.
His background: He worked at IBM and was responsible for several IT projects in Austria and abroad. Some time ago he had been retired. As he did not want to spend his time by doing nothing special he has developed this programme built up on the experience he gained and financed by himself. He can demonstrate the programme at any time and he is a data base expert.
What he would need: Being taken seriously, a partner for commercialization who helps him to finish his programme ready to sell.
I ask myself if we are really talking about a genius or does it sound better than it actually is? The person I am talking about will hopefully comment on my article!

This is a very interesting message,
allthough I have heard several times about such super-tools during my experiences in IT over the last 30 years and none of them is still in production or disappeared from the market.
The basic idea is of course very interesting, but I have my doubts if one person ( even an ex-IBM’er) could develop such an extremely complex product.
Therfore I have to ask :
o where are the facts ?
o is it operational ?
o are there some pilot installations or refernce customers?
There is also in Poland a group developing a similar product, which is project-oriented. It creates DB-tables, Programm code etc,… based on Work Breakdown Struture of a project.
It will be interesting to hear more details.
First of all:
• I am neither a genius nor a fool. At worst I am a little bit of both.
Back to the product:
• It is operational.
• It is an extremely complex product.
• Development by only one person could be achieved because of a powerful development method.
• This powerful method is supported by the product.
• The ongoing development may be seen as a pilot installation.
It’s difficult for me to deliver “facts” as long as I don’t know which category of facts is requested.
In my opinion a question-answer discussion will solve that problem.

Dieter
Good to meet you, Dieter! I agree this is an interesting technique or product you are developing.
Do you have any proof or testimonials? Here, I’m thinking about a test by an independent third party, or an actual customer. A case study would also be welcome.
For which kinds of software development is this technique particularly effective? Can it handle all aspects of development, including user interface design?
Hallo Steven,
at this time the only proof I have is the product itself.
That sounds funny, but the product is a complex application and this complex application has (and is) been developed by itself.
Your idea of testing this product is exactly what I am waiting for.
Plain answers to your next questions would be:
• This technique is effective for all kinds of software development.
• It can handle all aspects of development, including user interface design.
These answers may be wrongly interpreted without knowing that the usual steps “Analysis”, “Design” and “Implementation” of current software development do not exist within my product. My product supports a method to describe complex processes. “Software” is a side effect.
Regards
Dieter.
Hallo Steven,
did you follow up your thinking about testing my product by an independent third party.
Any suggestion ?
Regards
Dieter.
Hello Dieter! I don’t have any specific recommendation but I can point you in the right direction.
I suggest you look around in Vienna for an institution or company that would be willing to evaluate your product and verify your claims. You have three reasons to do this:
- an independent third-party endorsement
- publicity in your local business circles
- introductions to possible allies, collaborators and investors
You might want to start by contacting local IT journalists to see if they are interested in a good story. These people may have further ideas or contacts to help you set up a test.
That’s one approach. Does anybody else have further suggestions?
A Christmas wonder happened – this forum established a contact between a person having an innovative idea and another person really interested in it.
That’s not a sensation; the forum exists for this reason.
No, for me the unexpected result of this contact was the mentioned Xmas wonder:
First time I had the possibility to show somebody my existing tool to demonstrate what I am talking about.
At least one person looked at it before giving me some useful hints or telling me, why it will not run.
I am looking forward to his comments hopefully coming soon.
Regards and a Happy New Year
Dieter.
Thanks for letting us know about your good experience, Dieter!
We’re here to bring together people and their ideas. This happens regularly behind the screens, but it isn’t often celebrated.
It´s always nice to have (good) feedback. I hope, the contact will be the start of a sucess story. Good luck and thank you!
